Samsung is gearing up to announce the launch of its flagship smartphones, Galaxy S5, in India on March 27. the South Korean electronics giant has started sending invites for the event to the media.

The company is expected to announce the price of Galaxy S5 at the event. the smartphone will be availale starting April 11, coinciding with the day it becomes available, globally in 150 countries.

It is not clear if Samsung will also announce the pricing and availability details for its Gear 2, Gear 2 Neo and Gear Fit smartwatches at the same event. the smart devices were launched along with Galaxy S5 during an event in BARCELONA on the side lines of the Moblie World Congress.

Samsung galaxy s5 sports a slightly larger 5.1-inch Super AMOLED (1080 X 1920p) display which looks similar to that of the Galaxy s4. Powered by a 2.5GHz Quad-core processsor and 2GB RAM, the Galaxy S5 comes in 16GB and 32GB internal storage variants, expandable upto 64GB through microSD card.

The phone is dust and water-resistant (IP67 certified), sports and offers fitness-related features, including a Pedometer, diet and exercise records, and a new, built-in heart rate monitor. Another highlight of the phone is anew iPhone-like fingerprint sensor integrated with the phone's home button. The finger scanner will offer a biometri screen-locking feature and mobile payment experiences to consumers.

Galaxy S5 sports a 16MP rear camera and a 2.1MP front-facing camera. The rear camera is capable of capturing 4K video at 30 frames per second. Samsung claimed the Galaxy S5 offers the world's fastest auto-focus speed upto 0.3 seconds.

The smartphone runs ANDROID 4.4.2 KitKat, the latest version of Google's mobile operating system. The back pannel of the phone sports a dimpled soft-touch cover, similar to the Nexus 7 Tablet.

In terms of connectivity options, Galaxy S5 offers Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n and ac, Bluetooth 4.0, USB 3.0, NFC and InfreRed. The phone supports a large number of 4G LTE frequency bands with LTE Category 4 standard. Officials says that  this phone will going to blast the smartphone market.

Asus Transformer Book Duet is a hybrid Laptop in more ways than one

Asus has taken a cue from Samsung in making what it calls "the world's first Quad-mode, Dual-OS laptop." The company is referring to tha Transformer Book Duet TD300, a 13-inch detachable hybrid laptop that runs both Windows 8.1 and Android...4.1.

Weird, but intriguing, the roughly 1.12-inch thin Transformer Book Duet can switch between Windows and Android with the press of either a physical button on its keyboard dock or a virtual button on the 0.5-inch thin tablet. With 13.3-inch, 1920 x 1080 IPS touchscreen, this hybrid laptop runs on up to an Intel Core i7 chip.

It's the laptop-grade chip that allows for smooth, seamless switching between operating system, ASUS says.  The TD3OO has ASUS making all sorts of claims, like that this hybrid rig is twice as fast as competing ARM-based tablets.

Backing up that CPU are up to 4GB of DDR3 RAM and the user's choice of either an SSD as large as 128GB or a hard drive of up to 1TB in size. Couple that with 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, and a front-facing HD webcam, and the TD300 ups the ante for a would-be iPad Pro.

But wait. Check out the physical connections on offer: a 64GB microSD card reader and headphone jack on the tablet, with three USB ports (one 3.0), Ethernet,HDMI and audio ports on the keyboard dock.

Oodles of apps

And with two OSes at the ready, the TD300 has access to "over a million apps," ASUS claims. That's over 1 million from Google Play, and more than 50,000 from the Windows Store- not to mention those from all the existing Windows channels.

Since Asus's patented OS switching technology is not virtualized (think VMware or Parallels), it allows for switching between open Android and Windows apps on the fly.

Together, the tablet and keyboard dock weigh 4.18 pounds, making for a light and portable, Asus says.  We'll be the judge of that- and get pricing and availability information- once we get our hands on the Transformer Book Duet on the CES 2014 show floor.

Sony's Xperia Z2 introduces a brilliant new display to the company's flagship phone

Sony hasn't seen fit to alter the design or size of its flagship Android phone for 2014, with the newly announced Xperia Z2 occupying the same footprint as last year's Z1, and has instead focused on making notable upgrades on the inside. First and foremost, the company has moved to a new IPS display with what it calls Live Color LEDs, a technology unique to Sony that's  claimed to give its  mobile devices the widest color gamut on the market- bettering even Apple's excellent iPhone and iPad displays.

When viewed in person, the Z2 does indeed have a very attractive display, with good contrst and color fidelity, immediately distinguishing it from the mediocre screen of the Z1. At 5.2 inches, the Xperia Z2 also gives you slightly more real estate, though the resolution remains unchanged at 1920 x 1080. The battery, RAM, and processor have all been upgraded as well: the new flagship comes with 3200mAh of power, 3GB of memory, and a Quas-core 2.3GHz Snapdragon 801. Asie from a new set of stereo speakers, the external look of the Xperia Z2 is pretty much unchanged, including an all-glass front and back,IP58-certified waterproofing, and a dedicated camera key.
